Data scientist is usually a title given to people with phd doing research also seen as research scientist. You’re more likely to get an analyst role as scientist is usually going to require some sort of grad school and they do drastically different things.

I can't speak for recruiters or how people outside of berkeley see the two majors, but most berkeley students consider data science less rigorous. I feel rlly nervous about the fact that i might be figuring all this out so late in the game when i only have two years left. There's only 2 ds classes right now as well.
